The in-TEM reagent is used in the INTEM assay, a typical first line screening method for the rapid assessment of the entire haemostasis system.

It is based upon the mild, but controlled activation of the contact system. This is more precise, less dependent on the sample quality and more robust under routine conditions than non activated methods based on just surface activation by the cup. A very important benefit is also the relatively short reaction time (about 2- 3 min until clot formation starts)

INTEM is sensitive to the most important disorders in the plasmatic coagulation system such as:

• Acquired or congenital deficiencies of coagulation factors
• Haemophilia, inhibitors
• Fibrin polymerisation disorders
• Heparin, LMWH, hirudin and similar anticoagulants
• Platelet disorders
• Thrombocytopenia
